Group Leader Training
Group Leaders are a critical part of the Chicago Parent Program. Running the program with a high level of skill is important so parents can achieve the outcomes of the program. Group Leader Training is required for all individuals implementing the program with parents.
CPP offers interactive virtual training workshops several times each year over four consecutive half-days via Zoom.
Upcoming Virtual Group Leader Training Workshops:

Agencies can also contract with the CPP team for in-person training for large trainee groups. In-person CPP training workshops are run over two full consecutive days on site at your location. If you are interested in scheduling an in-person training at your site, fill out the CPP interest form.
What You Will Learn
Through lecture, discussion, and demonstrations led by certified CPP Group Leaders, you will gain the hands-on knowledge and skills and the program materials needed to implement the CPP in your agency or practice.
Objectives
By the conclusion of the CPP training workshop, trainees will be able to:
Understand the theory and research underlying the CPP model
Understand the meaning and purpose of the evidence-based parenting strategies taught in the CPP
Understand how the different components of the CPP are used to promote parents’ confidence and competence in managing their children’s behavior
Develop beginning competence in implementing the CPP
Identify strategies for effectively implementing lessons learned in programs and agencies serving families and young children
Certification (recommended)
We strongly recommend that after Chicago Parent Program Group Leaders complete the CPP training workshop, they also become certified. Certification signifies that Group Leaders have achieved a high level of skill based on independent evaluations of CPP group facilitation.
There are several important advantages to becoming a certified CPP Group Leader:
You will receive expert feedback on your group leading skills during the certification process.
You will know you are delivering the program as intended to parents.
You will have documentation for parents and providers that you have the essential skills for leading CPP parent groups.
